FISH SING/PEZ CANTA
Denison University
a dance performance
Choreographers: Mollie Wolf, Marion Ramirez, Ojeya Cruz-Banks
Lighting Designer: Abbey Lynn Smith
Costume Designer: Laura Plikerd
Musician: Matthew Dixon
Fish Sing/Pez Canta was a dance performance that featured acrobatics centered around the concept of how various fish live in the water--how they move as a unit, mate, and foster community. The overarching lighting design idea, as you might imagine, was to create the look of water. I utilized gobos that pulsed throughout the show to create the effect of rippling water. The creative concept with the choreographer team was to have the lighting stretch the span of a day--from sunrise to day and sunset into night--spanning a day throughout the performance.
